If you had a signature color, what would it be?Personally it is Blue, I am always wearing blue in some form, but in my designs I actually don’t use blue that much, it would probably be Aqua in that case. What is your favorite pattern from your collection & why?My favorite is probably Stockholm. I think it summarizes what my design aesthetic is all about, bright, bold, clean designs, large scale florals. If you weren’t a designer, what would you be? I would be doing art or photography full time, it would be wonderful to be able to make one of a kind pieces, if you sell one you have a 100% sell thru! What was your favorite part about working with Duralee on your collection? I love the collaboration with the Duralee design team. Many of my designs are isolated images, they do not have fixed repeats. It is always exciting to see how the Duralee design team takes my ideas and designs and translates them into all over patterns. If you were to pick a song as your anthem, what is it? “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac , this is a tough choice-so many great songs out there. Design trends tend to be cyclical, what trend would you like to see make a comeback? Which do you wish would never return? I’m still waiting for the return of 80’s décor-we’ve had it in fashion, what about in interiors-Nagel Prints, overstuffed sectionals, marble coffee tables, chintz-come on! I am definitely not looking for a 70’s revival-macrame, shag carpets-no thanks. If you were to collaborate with any fashion designer, who would it be? Since I am all about prints, my dream job is to work with Pucci. 1960’s Pucci that is. I love a simple shape like a shift dress with a bold print.Where is the most inspiring place you’ve ever been? It is tough to pick because I really find so much inspiration anywhere that I go. I think Tokyo was very inspiring because it is such a different way of living from life in the US. There is just a completely different way of doing things there and it makes you look at the things you do everyday in a new way. Of course Paris is always an eye opener and an endless resource. If you could live on any movie set, which one would you pick? Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory-the original from the 70’s-I always loved that movie-and I love chocolate! What is the best advice you could give a new designer just starting out?Take any job you can get that is related to what you want to do. Even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time, you will learn invaluable things that you will use for the rest of your career. If you had to choose any other designer to design your home, who would it be and why? So easy, my fantasy pad is designed by Diamond Barratta, I love their sense of whimsy and how everything is custom made and designed just for that space.Do you have any hidden talents? Not really-it’s all out there for the world to see. What’s on your wish-list right now? I want a beach house-seriously, I don’t really want anything except a place at the beach.
